In this painting, she takes form as a twisted old woman with sagging, elongated breasts, lurking in the shadows of a cave littered with eerie signs of her evil—stolen child souls, scurrying rats, slithering worms, and poisoned waters turning from calm blue to sickly green.
Outside the cave, unaware of the danger behind her, a pregnant woman stands in shallow water, captivated by a dramatic natural scene: waterfalls, cliffs, and swirling fog that veil the true threat. A devastated city after war, skies echoing the apocalyptic tones of The Last Day of Pompeii, figures in yellow suits working with radioactive waste, and the ever-present piles of garbage born from modern consumption — all reflect the countless ways in which humanity endangers its own future. In these fragments, even the threat of nuclear war is evoked, with the chilling suggestion that if it were to occur, only the most resilient creatures, like cockroaches, might survive.
Amid this tension between hope and devastation, a yurt appears — a symbol of Kazakh heritage, simplicity, and harmony with the land. It represents the past, when life was lived closer to nature, but also serves as a warning: if we abandon preservation, the past may be all that remains, while the future becomes unlivable.

Some take off this so-called “mask” in front of their loved ones, friends, partners, showing their true inner world, while for others the mask has become an integral part of their life and marked for them the loss of their individuality. This picture shows us that behind this very mask we will not be able to see its owner. The color palette of the painting was not chosen by chance: the predominantly cold background reflects how a person continuously wearing a mask sees the world around him, his emotional state, and the warm colors “emitted” by the wearer himself are the very source of happiness that he can achieve if he finds himself.
